www.niepelnosprawnik.eu - is an Internet database provided in the form of a browser. Niepełnosprawnik presents information about public premises adjustability to the needs of people with different types of disabilities. Niepełnosprawnik from its beginnings, i.e. since 2007 is run by TUS Foundation.The idea of Niepełnosprawnik is to provide information about adjustability of public premises visited by disabled people on every-day basis in relation to their private, professional and educational life. The information provided by this database is free of charge. Majority of work is done by volunteers and interns under supervision of Foundation employees. Up to 2011, 200 volunteers have worked forNiepełnosprawnik. The aim of measurement teams is to measure and describe public premises from the point of view of their accessibility to the disabled. Then, all data put on paper measurement spreadsheets, is transferred into the electronic database. The last stage is to provide access to the data on Internet website. The database fulfills its role only when it is constantly updated and expanded by new objects. Till middle of 2011, data about 1800 public premises has been prepared and provided by the database. Niepełnosprawnik enables disabled people to plan their current activities in city environment. The database is provided in the form of an easy-to-use website allowing disabled people to evaluate their possibility to benefit from a cultural institution, service point, shop or any office. The database is useful also for older people, people with heavy luggage or parents with small children.(source)
